Model and Call Admission Control for Distributed Applications with Correlated Bursty Traac

چکیده
As network capacities increase, wide-area distributed parallel computing may become feasible. This paper addresses one of the issues involved in using an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network for such a purpose|that of developing an appropriate call admission control (CAC) procedure for such applications given the special nature of their traac. In this proposal, connections belonging to the same application and sharing the same link are allowed to utilize the link bandwidth in a strongly correlated manner. However, connections belonging to diierent applications are still assumed to be independent. This allows the development of a tabular approach for keeping track of the aggregate bandwidth demand of the applications sharing the same link. The proposed approach is compared with two related approaches (one more conservative and another more aggressive) and is shown to strike a balance between utilization and loss rate.

Measurement-based Admission Control with Aggregate Traac Envelopes
The goal of admission control is to support the quality-of-service demands of real-time applications via resource reservation. In this paper, we introduce a new approach to Measurement-Based Admission Control (MBAC) based on adaptive and measurement-based maximal rate envelopes of the aggregate traac ow. We show that such traac envelopes provide a robust and accurate characterization of the agg...

We consider a uid model of a system that handles real-time and data traac. The delay and cell-loss requirements of these two types of traac are generally widely diierent and are achieved by assigning diierent-sized buuers for the two classes, and serving real-time traac ahead of data traac. We use results from the eeective bandwidth of the output processes (see Chang and Thomas 1]) to derive si...

With the deployment of packetized wireless networks, the need for Quality of Service is becoming increasingly important. In order for QoS to be implemented and eeciently supported, a number of key areas in wired/wireless integration need to be addressed. One key issue is the call admission policy for the base station sched-uler. In this paper we provide a call admission control policy that is d...

A CAC algorithms (PM-CAC) is proposed and analyzed for multimedia cellular CDMA networks with imperfect power control and statistical power multiplexing among bursty traffics. Based on ON-OFF traffic model and lognormal interference model, we derive the traffic’s comprehensive outage probability, which is served as the metric of admission control. Two power allocation scheme, LOPA [1] and QOPA[...
متن کاملPreprint 0 (2000) ?{? Call Admission Control with Fractal Traac: Theory and Practice
In networks that support quality of service (QoS), a call admission control (CAC) algorithm determines whether or not a new traac ow can be admitted to the network such that all users will receive their required performance. Such an algorithm is a key component of multiservice networks, e.g., ATM, because it determines the extent to which network resources are utilized and whether the promised ...
